DSA Sponsors Diana Madaras Charity Event
Terry von Guilleaume, owner of DSA and Diana Madaras met when Madaras was being honored by the Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT) for her charity work, and Von Guilleaume had donated a luxury safari to be auctioned off. The two started talking and soon enough they were coming up with new ideas to raise money for charities. Von Guilleaume offered to give Madaras a free safari, and Madaras agreed to donate the proceeds from the paintings that resulted from the trip. “I’m taking an opportunity to ‘pay it forward’ by donating to a South African sanctuary dedicated to preserving the awesome wild creatures of Africa and their habitat,” said Madaras. Two local organizations -- Tucson’s Reid Park Zoo and TROT’s equine therapy program -- also will benefit. Von Guilleaume, a native South African who has a long history of supporting all sorts of charities in his home country, is excited about the unique partnership. “This is an opportunity for us to give back directly to what draws most visitors to Africa, which is the wildlife.” Von Guilleaume and Madaras have chosen three South African charities called SanWild, Holy Family Center, and Kuname Vegetable Garden. An African Art Sourjourn took place in Tucson recently at the Madaras Gallery. With Diana's paintings and a number of others donated by well known wildlife artists - the event raised roughly $80,000! |
