The New Launch
DSA recently launched a full day tour that visits one, two or three needy causes in South Africa. Much research was done on finding the right charities and at the same time making them accessible to folks who are visiting South Africa. Knowing that 95% of first time and repeat visitors to South Africa enjoy going on a safari, we selected three causes near the famous Kruger National Park. The Tour can either be conducted from Hoedspruit Airport as guests make there way to one of the private game lodges, or the tour can be conducted in between game drives on day 2, 3 or 4 of anyone’s safari itinerary. After hearing so many of our clients come back saying they wish they could help – the idea was borne to create a tour that would help. Awareness is important, but so to is allowing one to donate when they want to. The tour cost benefits the charities visited directly, with 50% of the cost going towards the charity visited. This avoids any awkwardness Below is a brief description of the tour, with one departing from their luxury game lodge near Kruger: Guests are collected from their game lodge shortly after breakfast and taken to the tiny town of Olfolaco, which is home to the Holy Family Centre Aids Orphanage. The Holy Family orphanage is home to some 90 children and is run by a small group of dedicated Catholic Nuns. Visitors will tour the facility and be introduced to the children living there. The focus of the orphanage is to make sure the children have an equal shot at a happy and healthy future. Visitors will be amazed to see how the children are thriving at Holy Family. Your second stop of the day is Malabelong - a rural community about an hour away. The community is home to a school of 600 children. The school is important to the students for academics, as well as, food (sometimes their only meal of the day). You will have the opportunity to tour the school, visit the vegetable garden that the community is very proud of, and end off with a group lunch - mini barbeque (braai) for ourselves and the children at the school. After this visit we return to the game lodge - in time for the evening game drives. - Tour Duration: 6 hours
- Tour cost: $80 per person. 50% of the cost of the tour will benefit the abovementioned charities directly. The remaining cost covers the use of the vehicle and guides.
- Tour to Aids Orphanage takes place twice a month so as to not turn the place into a touristy trap. Malabelong can be visited any day of the week.
