By including a visit to SanWild – this itinerary gives visitors the unique opportunity to interact with an array of wildlife and get up close and personal with them. Pondoro Game Lodge is an extra treat after Sanwild as one will now be more knowledgeable than the typical first time safari goers. A must for those who support wildlife that is endangered or threatened.

Day 1 | On arrival at the airport you will be met by a local representative who will assist you in answering any questions you may have about your onwards journey. In addition she will present you with a travel digest to help you on your travels in our beautiful land, and assist with the collection of your rental vehicle. Depart from the airport for the short journey to the hotel.
Rest of the day at leisure in Cape Town.

Day 2-3 | Enjoy 2 full days at leisure to explore this wonderful city. We highly recommend that you do not miss the opportunity to tour around the fabled Cape Peninsula, described by Sir Francis Drake as “The fairest cape we saw in the whole circumference of the world”.

The magnificent Cape wine region lies less than an hour from the city and for those seeking to learn more of South Africa’s cultural heritage a trip to Robben Island is a must.

Day 4 | After breakfast return your rental vehicle to the airport before your flight to Johannesburg (not included in cost). On arrival in Johannesburg you will proceed to the car rental counter to collect your vehicle and depart for Limpopo. Arrive in the afternoon at your lodge, where time permitting you will be able to enjoy an afternoon game drive.

There are four luxury chalets located in the Savannah Private Bush Camp each boasting a private bathroom, satellite television and air-conditioning.

Day 5 | After breakfast enjoy some of the activities Savannah Bush Lodge has to offer. Daily game drives, ranger walking trails and/or a visit to the rehabilitation center.
At the rehabilitation center you are given a short presentation on the work of the welfare organization, the rehabilitation process and individual case studies on the animals that have been rehabilitated and that are now living in the sanctuary.

Day 6 | After breakfast depart from Sanwild for the Balule Game Reserve. Set on the cool riverine banks of the Olifants River in the 40 000 ha exclusive Balule Private Game Reserve inside the greater Kruger National Park, Pondoro offers its visitors comfort, sophistication, elegance and a canvas on which to create a tryly unforgettable African safari.

On arrival at the lodge you will be met and shown to your rooms. After settling in join the other guests for lunch. After lunch there is free time to relax during the heat of the day, either in your rooms or around the pool.

All guests will congregate in the late afternoon for “high tea” before embarking on your first open vehicle game drive under the guidance or your experienced ranger and tracker team in search of Africa’s famous wildlife. At sunset stop for sundowners to toast the end of another day in Africa, before continuing the safari after dark with the aid of powerful spotlights to, hopefully, glimpse some of the elusive nocturnal game. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 7 | Enjoy a full day on safari. Your twice daily safaris take place at dawn and dusk, when the bush is at its most active and chances of spotting game the best. Your experience ranger and tracker team will help you make the most of your time on safari through their extensive knowledge of the African Savannah. The reserve is home to a wide variety of African game, including the 'Big Five' - lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo. Safaris are conducted in open 4x4 vehicles which allow you a truly thrilling safari experience.

During the heat of the day you can relax at the lodge and soak up the sounds of the bush. You can also enjoy a walking safari after breakfast.

Day 8 | Awake early for a final morning safari in this unspoiled wilderness, and a last chance to maybe spot that elusive leopard! Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast before your departure.

Drive from Pondoro to Johannesburg where you will return your vehicle to the rental company before your outbound flight.

Any additional vehicle costs:

• Contract fee: $5 once off payable direct to Hertz

• Claim Admin fee of $60.00 will be charged in the event of an accident and/or theft of the vehicle
• Fine handling fee: $25.00 should Hertz have to handle any fine received while you are driving the car.
