Etosha National Park

What To See and Do

Etosha is famous for its unusual Salt Pans which dominate the centre of the park and this area is Namibia's premier game viewing destination. It is one of Africa's largest game parks covering an area of 12,000 square miles, home to over 240 animal species and 340 bird species. These include elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, springbok, oryx, kudu and the diminutive Damara dik-dik.

The central and most distinctive geographical feature is the vast Etosha Pan. With a rich network of water holes there are few places in the world where such a wealth and diversity of wildlife may be seen in such close proximity. Next to Etosha Pan is Fischer's Pan. During the rainy season, it is often filled with water and is an excellent bird watching site.

Photography at Etosha National Park is exceptional: the waterholes allow for unobtrusive close-ups and dramatic angles of the wildlife while the salt pan throws up a backdrop of shimmering white beneath a parched blue sky.
